Franklin Patrick Gooding, 61, of Ashburn died Saturday, May 9, 2009, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2009, at Bethel Baptist Church in Sycamore. His uncle, Pastor Gerald Connell Baldree, and Rev. Jerry Kennedy will officiate with burial to follow in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Sycamore. Matt Mitchell, Lee Forsythe, Derek Churchwell, Ken Pender, David Durden and Jay Durden will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 10, 2009, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Gooding was born on May 3, 1948 in Jacksonville, Florida and was the son Ernest C. Gooding and Lucy Baldree Gooding, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Ernest Gooding. He was a retired truck driver and a veteran of the United States Army.
Mr. Gooding is survived by his wife, Susan Vendetta Gooding, formerly Susan Staten, of Ashburn; one daughter and son-in-law, Hope and Tim Payne of Ashburn; one sister, Kathy Goodman of Orlando, Florida; and three grandchildren, Tori Payne, Cole Payne and Emily Payne, all of Ashburn.
