Kathleen T. (Fitzsimons) Hill, a 42 year resident of Wakefield and formerly of Virginia, County Cavan, Ireland, and Medford, died on Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Sunrise of Lynnfield Nursing Facility following a lengthy illness.
Kathleen was born in Virginia, County Cavan, Ireland, where she grew up and attended school. She came to the United States in 1957 and lived in Medford for several years. She worked as a secretary for Massachusetts General Hospital in their Institue of Health Profession (I.H.P.) division for 7 years. She also worked in administrative capacities for several businesses in the area. Kathleen was a former member of The Most Blessed Sacrament Church Women's Guild.
Kathleen is the beloved wife of 47 years to Michael Hill who were married on May 12, 1962. She is the devoted mother of Catherine M. "Cathy" Donovan and her husband Bruce of Wakefield, Ann Marie O'Neill and her husband John of Stoneham, Patricia Mullen and her husband Brian of Topsfield, Brenda Shield and her husband Brian of Georgia and M. Stephen Hill and his wife Kristen of New Jersey. She is the loving Mimi to Kaitlin and Bridget Donovan, Meaghan, Molly and Mairead O'Neill, Brian and Eileen Mullen, Stephen, Ryan, Jennifer and Jessica Shield, Charlotte and Cavan Hill. She is the beloved sister of Francis Fitzsimons of England, Nora Reynolds of Ireland, Rita Farrell of Ireland, the late Margaret Burns, Andrew Fitzsimons, Eileen Bagnall and Josie O'Brien. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Kathleen's Funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at 10 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main Street, Wakefield/Melrose line, followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Joseph's Church, 173 Albion Street, Wakefield, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will be on Monday, May 11, 2009, from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Stoneham.
