FRANKLIN—James W. “Jimmy” Getchell 55, of Franklin, died peacefully, surrounded by his family at home on Thursday May 7, 2009 following a long illness.
Born in Natick, December 4, 1953 a son, of the late Warren E. and Mary A. (Cassidy) Getchell, he had been a resident of Franklin for over 50 years.
Mr. Getchell was raised and educated in Franklin schools, and for many years worked as an “old school” cement finisher for Blackstone Valley Concrete, Pioneer Concrete, Lewis Concrete, and Marguerite Concrete.
He enjoyed riding motorcycles, and fishing, and he will be remembered as a devoted son, brother, friend, and uncle.
He is survived by three brothers William O. Getchell and his wife Lorraine of Norfolk, Michael A. Getchell, Paul D. Getchell and his wife Linda, of Franklin, six sisters Joanne Eastwood, Betty Schurman, Jackie Bartelloni and her husband Gene, Diane McGann and her husband Joseph, Marsha Getchell and her fiancé Lary Lovett and Cheryl Vendetti and her husband Michael all of Franklin. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late John J. Getchell.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Monday May 11, at 9:15AM from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. (www.franklinfuneral.com) followed by a graveside service at 10AM at the family lot in Vine Lake Cemetery, Rt. 109, Medfield, MA.
Calling hours are Sunday May 10, from 5-8PM at the funeral home.
