John D. Carvalho, age 49 a resident of Fall River since 1968, passed away May 7, 2009. Husband of Maria Octavia (Teves) Carvalho. Born in Santo Antonio alem Capelas, Sao Miguel, Azores, son of the late Jose and Maria Ambrozina (Viveiros Arruda) Carvalho. John was a parishioner of St. Michael Church, where he collected at the 11:30 A.M. Mass, and was active in the church feast, carried the Sacred Heart statue in the procession and helped at Bingo. He had worked at San Toro Mfg. as a presser, then worked for 13 years with P. Giososo Construction Co., then at Tedesco Construction Co as a Truck Driver. He last worked for the City of Fall River since Oct. in the Public Works Dept.
Besides his wife, he is survived by 2 Children: Brian and Tanya Carvalho both of Fall River: 12 Siblings: Joseph, Humberto, Antone and Manuel Carvalho all of Fall River and Jack Carvalho of Dartmouth, Virginia Reis, Mary Cabral, Theresa Arruda and Milly Rodriguez all of Fall River, Filomena Cabral of Berkley, Fatima Furtado of FL, Anna Norfolk of Assonet and many nieces & nephews.
His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 1521 N. Main St. MONDAY at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael Church at 10:30 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery. Calling hours SUNDAY 5-9 P.M.
