Salem, NH- Ronald G. Habib, 69, died Thursday, May 7, 2009 at Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston, after a brave battle with cancer.
He was born October 15, 1939 in Lowell, MA to the late Fred and Jay (Ramey) Habib. Ron was a graduate of Central Catholic High School (Class of ’57), where he played basketball and was a member of the track team. He earned a bachelors Degree in Business from Southern, NH University.
Ron was a proud member of the United States Air Force (1957-1963) and a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was retired from General Electric Co., where he worked for 30 years. Following his retirement from G.E., he was employed by the DeLuca Family Auto Dealerships.
Ron enjoyed transporting cars to and from Florida each year, for his faithful snowbirds. He loved spending time with his family, camping, traveling the world with close friends and photography- where he captured many special occasions on film.
Ron is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lorraine (Hassy) Habib, son David and his wife Kim, of Salem, NH, son Michael and his wife Susan of Derry, NH, brother George and his wife Marie of Methuen, MA and was the beloved grandfather to 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, and uncle to several nieces and nephews. Ron was pre-deceased by his loving daughter Sherri-Lynn O’Riordan and her husband Patrick (Patsy) J. O’Riordan.
The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to the medical staff of both the Caritas Holy Family Hospital in Methuen and Tufts NEMC.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends may pay their respects on Monday, May 11, 2009 from 4-8 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc., 233 Lawrence St. Methuen. A Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph’s Melkite Church.
