M. Frances (Hunt) Burrell 93 years old of Brockton died Thursday May 7, 2009 at BayPointe Nursing and Rehab. She was the devoted wife for 68 years of Edward L. “Sonny” Burrell, ret. Chief Brockton Fire Department. Mrs. Burrell was born and raised in Brockton a daughter of the late James and Delia (Moore) Hunt. She was a graduate of Brockton High School and remained a lifelong resident of the city. She was a homemaker who tended to the needs of her husband and sons.
Mrs. Burrell had been a volunteer for many years at the Cardinal Cushing Hospital. She enjoyed knitting and supporting her husband ‘s position of fire chief and accompanied him on many trips to fire chief conventions. She enjoyed travel within the United States or abroad and especially enjoyed her trip on the Amazon River. She was a longtime communicant of St. Edward Church.
In addition to her husband she is survived by two sons Donald B. Burrell of Brockton, principal of North Junior High and Robert E. Burrell of Lighthouse Pointe, FL. She was the grandmother of Melissa Audyatis of Berkley and Carolyn Burrell of Quincy and the great grandmother of Meghan and Katelyn. She was the sister of the late James Hunt.
Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Tuesday at 9:30 am. Funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein/St. Edward Parish at 10:30 am. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Randolph.
