Mary Gertrude (Hazel) Ross, 78, beloved wife of the late Robert T. Ross Sr. passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 5, 2009, at Sunbridge Rehab and Care Center of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. Mary was born in Medford, MA, and was the daughter of the late Captain Richard Howard Hazel and Catherine Ruth (Fleming) Hazel. She resided most of her life in Medford MA before moving to East Wakefield NH in 1991.
Mary graduated from Medford High School, class of 1949. She was employed by the John Hancock Insurance Company in the Prudential Center. She enjoyed many years of her ceramic classes at the Medford community center., was a volunteer at New England Memorial Hospital and a loving and loyal friend to the many people whose lives she touched. Mary was an avid reader, always up for a game of cards, dedicated fan of the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots and Boston Bruins, a member of the Medford Chapter of D.A.V., and new member of the Red Hat Society of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. Her energy, spirit, determination and laughter will be greatly missed.
She loved spending time with her friends and family especially her children, grand children, great grand children. She is remembered with love by her son and daughter in-law, Robert Ross Jr. and Diane of Lisbon Falls Maine and her four daughters and sons in law, Ruth Ann Foskitt and her husband Richard of Falmouth, Massachusetts, Mary Jane Ross of Concord, Massachusetts, Paula Balboni and her husband Serse of Lakeville, Massachusetts, Joan Marley and her husband Richard of Woburn, Massachusetts. Mary was blessed with eleven grandchildren: Robert III, Stephen and Krista Ross, Gretchen Ross, Catherine, Elizabeth, and Amanda Foskitt, Ian and Bonnie MacEachern, Briana Balboni and Richard Marley Jr. and her two great grandchildren, Christian and Emily. She was very excited about the upcoming births of two more great grand children.
Her funeral was from the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at 8:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Anthony Church, 851 Main Street Woburn, at 10 AM. Many relatives and friends in attendance. Visiting hours were held Monday, May 11, 2009, from 4 to 8 PM. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
Her children would like to express their sincere gratitude to the wonderful and compassionate staff at the SunBridge Rehab Center of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, for the fabulous care and compassion shown to Mary and her family.
Mary left this world in a calm gentle sleep and she will wake joyfully and happily meeting her loving husband Bob, who was her first and last love, her son Larry and her mother Ruth.
