Obituary

Robert H. Carr, 92, of Salem, NH, died on Tuesday at the Meadows, North Andover, Mass., surrounded by his loving family and beloved dog, Domino.

He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and attended school there prior to entering the 101st Cavalry in 1938. He served with the US Army Air Corps and served his country in the South Pacific during WWII. He married Ruth Sinnett (deceased) in 1943, moved to New England, and settled in Salem, NH, in 1959. In 1972, the Carrs’ moved to Bow, NH, where they lived for 18 years and then in 2000, returned to Salem to join the rest of the family.

Mr. Carr was a member of the Salem VFW Post, the American Legion, and was very generous to all veterans' organizations. He was a committed member of the Salem Athletic Club; loved gardening; his dogs; horses; Gooch's Beach in Kennebunk, Me., and most of all, his family.

He is survived by his daughters, Lyn Schwager, her husband, Charles; Barbara Scanlon and her husband, Timothy, all of Salem; his best friend Milli Faulkner, grandchildren Chad Schwager and his fiancée Adriane Fredette, of Chicago, Il., Elaine Schwager, of North Andover, Ma., and Thomas Scanlon, Ph.D. and his wife Katie, of Lebanon, NH; and great grandson, Colby Scanlon.
He is also survived by his niece, Starr Lockley and her husband, Glenn, of Hooksett, NH and the Goedewaagen family of the Netherlands.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, May 10 from 2-6 PM at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St, Salem, NH

Funeral services will be Monday, May 11 at 10 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem.
