Funeral from the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday at 8am. Funeral Mass in St. Edward Church at 9am. Burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 11:30 am. Visiting Hours Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9pm. Please omit flowers. Obituary Information
Mr. Dolar died Saturday evening at his home after a brief illness. Born in Kemmerer, Wyoming, he was the son of the late George N. and Dagmar (Gulbransen) Dolar. He had been a resident of Brockton since 1972. He graduated from Kemmerer High School, Class of 1951 and received his Associates Degree from Newbury Jr. College. He retired as C.P.O. in January 1971 from the US Navy after a 20 year career. He served in both the Korean and Viet Nam Conflicts and received the silver and bronze stars and purple heart during the Korean Conflict. He also had worked for the New England Mutual Life Insurance Company for 20 years. He was a member of the VFW Post 1046, Brockton; AMVETS in Randolph, Tin Can Sailors in Fall River and TREA (The Retired Enlisted Association). He was a past member of the Fleet Reserve Association. He enjoyed woodworking and was a fan of youth sports. He was a longtime communicant of St. Edward Church.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years Mary M. (Perkins) Dolar, five daughters Katherine Durrigan of Lakeville; Marian Macuch of Bridgewater; Margaret Noonan of Brockton; Ann Litwin of Easton; Joanne Dolar of California and one son Michael Dolar of Brockton, seven grandchildren, three brothers Glenn “Jiggs” Dolar of Kemmerer WY; Keith “Gus” Dolar of Oroville, CA; Otto “Dewey” Dolar of Arizona City, AZ and one sister Ronda “Sis” Teare of New Plymouth, ID and many nieces and nephews.
