SALEM, NH – Geraldine H. (Hanna) Batts 81 of Salem, NH died peacefully on Monday May 4, 2009 at Caritas Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, surrounded by her family.
Born and educated in Lawrence, she was the daughter of George J. and Antoinette ( Topping) Hanna. She attended St. Augustine’s Grammar School and graduated from St. Mary’s High School with the Class of 1945. A longtime area resident, prior to her husbands death she also lived in Texas and Florida. For 10 years she worked in the fitting room at Marshalls at the Methuen Loop, a job her family recalls she loved very much.
The widow of John A. Batts, she is survived by her children John A. Batts and his wife Holly of Arlington, TX and Kathryn A. Whalen of Lawrence, MA.
Brother George J. Hanna and his wife Lorraine of Woburn, MA and sister Charlene M. Guarino of Londonderry, NH.
4 grandchildren Colton, Michael and Tyler Batts and Patrick Whalen.
Several nieces and nephews.
Geraldine was predeceased by her grandson Sean Whalen and her brothers Robert and Frank Hanna.
Arrangements: Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4:00p.m. – 8:00p.m. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Hone, Inc., 233 Lawrence Street Methuen, MA 01844. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 9:00a.m. at St. Monica’s Church in Methuen with burial to follow in St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence
