Obituary

Methuen, Ma. – George C. Hajj, 90 years, died on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at his home.
Mr. Hajj was born in Lawrence the son of John and Mary (Kanan) Hajj.
George was the founder and president of George C. Hajj & Son’s Construction Co.
He attended Saint Anthony Maronite Church of Lawrence.
A highly decorated veteran of World War II, George served his country in the United States Army Military Police, and was in the battles of Normandy, N. France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe. Because of his valor, he was awarded the American Defense Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, and the Campaign Ribbon.

George enjoyed gardening and landscaping at his home on Forest Lake, sharing his knowledge with family and friends, playing cribbage, and was called the consummate 45’s player. But above ALL, his most important enjoyment was his family.

George is survived by his wife of 61 years, Florence (Fradette) Hajj; 3 sons and their wives, John and Pamela Hajj of Hampton, Steven and Rosemarie Hajj of Florida, George and Paula Hajj of Salem; 3 daughters and their husbands, Jeanne and Jeffrey Dennis of Andover, Lisa and Michael Brouillard of Salem; and Lynne Hajj of Florida; also 16 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 4 sisters; and 2 brothers.

Friends may call on Friday, May 8 from 4 – 8 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen.

A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Saturday morning at 10 o’clock in Saint Anthony Maronite Church, 145 Amesbury St., Lawrence, with burial to follow in Saint Anthony’s Cemetery on Lowell St, Methuen.
