Marta ( Keiter ) Horn, a former resident of Whitman, passed away after a period of failing health on Saturday May 2, 2009 at The Blue Hills Alzheimer’s Care Center in Stoughton. She was 92 years old. She was the beloved wife of the late Emil Horn who passed away in 1968.
Marta was Born October 28, 1916 in Lithuania, later moved to Germany and then to the United States in 1951. She was a daughter to the late August and Emilie ( Buknat ) Keiter. She was a lifelong stitcher in the garment industry and had worked for various companies within the garment district in Boston. She retired in 1979. She was also a dedicated luncheon volunteer for ten years at the L Sreet Senior Center in South Boston.
Mrs. Horn is survived by her children, Irma Walat of Brockton and Walter Horn of Montana. Other survivors include her sister Anna Schnell of Germany, three grandchildren, Kathy Harris, Peter Walat, Gary Walat, her two great – grandchildren, Jessica Harris and Joshua Harris and her niece Ida Federico of Needham.
At the families request, all funeral services will be private and donations in Marta’s memory can be made to The Blue Hills Alzheimer’s Care Center, 1044 Park Street, Rt. 27, Stoughton, MA 02072.
