Ely J. Barnaby, age 90, a lifelong resident of Fall River, Passed away in May 4, 2009. Widower of Adrienne (Picard) Barnaby & fiancé of Pauline Jeffries. Born in Carver, MA, he was son of the late Adrian and Clarinda (Jodoin) Barnaby. He was a retired Tool & Die Maker at Firestone for 35 years and then worked as a maintenance man at Ashworth Brothers. He was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church, a member of the East End Sportsmen’s Club for 25 years, a Boy Scout Leader and a U.S. Army Veteran of WW II with the rank of Sgt. He was an avid horseshoe player, card player, golfer and a general all around supervisor.
Besides his fiancé, he is survived by 3 children: Adrian “Butch” Barnaby and Delores “Del” Barnaby both of Fall River and Pauline “Polly” Aubry of Somerset; 4 siblings: Roger Barnaby of Cincinnati, OH, Irene Levesque of Fall River, Yvette Gagnon of Westport and Lorraine Theroux of Taunton; 2 grandchildren: Buddy Aubry and Mickey Carey; 2 great grandchildren: Adam Carey and Andrea Aubry and several nieces & nephews. He was brother of the late Rene, Alfred, Norman & Ernest Barnaby.
His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 1521 N. Main St. FRIDAY at 9 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Immaculate Conception Church at 10 A.M. Cremation to follow. Calling hours THURSDAY 4-7 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MA Association of the Blind, 27 Kelley Ct., Brighton, MA 02135
