Methuen, MA- Charles G. Booth Jr., 74, a long time resident of Methuen, died Monday, May 4, 2009 at the Sutton Hill Nursing Center in North Andover.
Born and raised in Methuen, Chuck was the son of the late Charles G. and Margaret (Wormwood) Booth. Chuck was a graduate of Fitchburg State College. For 35 years he worked for Raytheon as a project coordinator until his retirement. After his retirement, Charles was a shuttle driver for Commonwealth Motors in Lawrence.
Charles was an attendant of St. Monica’s Church in Methuen and also a very active member of their Divine Mercy committee. He was a former member of the Methuen Council 4027 Knights of Columbus. He was also an avid bowler who also enjoyed square dancing with his wife.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years Mary Louise (McCarthy), his 2 children, Deborah O’Brien of Methuen, and Charles G. Booth III and his wife Cheryl of Derry, NH, 4 grandchildren, Patrick O’Brien and his wife Krystina of Andover, Joshua Booth and his wife Jessica of VA, Kelly O’Brien of Salem, NH and Derek Booth of Derry, NH. He also leaves behind his 3 great-grandchildren, Dylon, Logon, and Brody O’Brien, 2 sisters, Norma Hart and her husband Howard of Salem, NH and Marilyn and her husband William Melvin of North Andover as well as several nieces and nephews.
Chuck was pre-deceased by his two sisters, Claire Coelho and Shirley Gallagher.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Wednesday, May 6, from 4-8 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc. 233 Lawrence St. in Methuen. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at 9 AM at St. Monica’s Church with burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations in Chuck’s name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Boston Catholic Television Fund, P.O.
