Hampton, NH: George R. ‘Bo’ Guy age 68, died Sunday, May 3, 2009 at the Oceanside Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Hampton, following a long struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease. He was the husband of Norma (Miller) Guy with whom he shared 38 years of marriage.
Born in Salem he was the son of the late George A. and Elizabeth (MacLean) Guy. He attended St. Mary’s in Lynn and graduated from Salem High Class of 1959. Bo Thoroughly enjoyed sports, whether watching the Boston teams or playing on city or high school teams or coaching at the Newburyport Pioneer League.
Bo served four years with the Navy and was part of President Kennedy’s Cuban Missile Crisis and the subsequent blockade. He was employed by Ventron Corporation of Beverly and Danvers and moved with Strem Chemicals to Newburyport where he worked for nearly 30 years.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth ‘Lisa’ Holt and her husband Matthew of Rowley, a son, Matthew Guy and his fiancée Colleen Fox of Epping, NH, one grandson Brennan Holt, nieces Betty Ann, Christine, Allison, Rebecca & Marlene and nephews, Steven, Ryan and Marc. He also leaves a brother Richard Guy and uncle Richard ‘Dickie’ Guy, a brother-in-law David Miller and his wife Lilah of Tennessee and many cousins and especially his devoted friends Edward T. Callahan, J. David Whitmore and Kevin O’Donnell who visited him throughout his illness and were a great solace to the family. Bo was predeceased by a sister, Mary Gray.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem, MA on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at 9:30 am to be followed by his funeral mass in Ste.
