Rose (Pina) Silva, 93, of New Nedford died May 3, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late Antone M. "Tony" Silva and the former wife of the late George Michaels.
Born in South Carver, the daughter of the late Joseph A. Pina and Belmira (Fortes) Baptista, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.
She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Mrs. Silva was formerly employed by the Aerovox Corporation for 26 years. She later was employed by St. Luke's Hospital as a dietary aide.
Mrs. Silva was a foster grandparent for United Front Day Care Center until 1995.
Survivors include a sister, Julia Pina of New Bedford; 3 grandchildren, Robert Michaels, Jr., Robin Michaels and Heather Moore; 3 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Robert Michaels, grandmother of the late Kathleen Michaels and sister of the late Madeline Halstead, Senora Lawson, Beatrice Baptista, Florence Andrews, Mae Gomes and Avelino Pina.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 9 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
