Obituary

PEABODY- Edmund F. Rakoc, 78, husband of Mary A. (Watroba) Rakoc, of Peabody, died Sunday morning, July 6, 2003 in Salem Hospital after being stricken at his home.

Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Ignatius and Stefania (Meler) Rakoc.

Prior to his retirement in 1986, Mr. Rakoc was employed for 42 years by GTE Sylvania at the Loring Avenue, Salem plant, and was a floor supervisor at the time of his retirement. He was a member of the GTE Sylvania Quarter Century Club.

A resident of Peabody since moving from Salem in 1955, he was a member of the Polish Falcons, Nest #188 and the Crow II Club, both of Salem. His hobbies included sailing, fishing, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.

Besides his wife, with whom he recently celebrated 50 years of marriage, he is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Donna M. & John C. Waldroup, Jr. of Peabody, 2 grandchildren, Adam Waldroup, Lynne Waldroup, both of Peabody, one sister, Helen Henry of Peabody, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Eugene Rakoc.

His funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2003 at 9 am from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 am at St Thomas the Apostle Church, Salem.
