Rita Sawyer 90, formerly of Diamond Hill Rd. died Thursday in Philip Hulitar Center in Providence. She was the wife of the late George Sawyer and Emile Theroux. Mrs. Sawyer was born in Woonsocket a daughter of the late Archilles and Rose “Fontaine” Ethier. She worked for the former Bonte Spinning Co. for thirty two years before retiring in 1981.
She is survived by a son Donald Theroux of Woonsocket and a dear friend and longtime caregiver Betty Thompson of Westfield, MA. two grandchildren Keith and Stacy and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held Monday at 9:00 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St. Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Agatha’s Church, Joffre St. Woonsocket. Burial will be held in Precious Blood Cemetery. Visiting hours are Sunday 2-4 PM.
