Obituary

George L. Charette 88, of Manila Ave., died Friday in Massachusetts General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Yvette E. (Bacon) Charette. Mr. Charette was born in Woonsocket. He was a son of the late Celestine and Albertine (Couture) Charette. He worked as a machinist at Taft-Pierce Manufacturing Co. for 46 years retiring in 1983 and was a member of the International Association of Machinists.


He is survived by a son George R. Charette of Chepachet, two daughters, Mary Ann Joyal of N. Smithfield, and Carol Ann Charette of Woonsocket, five grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Albertine Giard and Cecile Martin both of Woonsocket. He was predeceased by a son, Richard A. Charette. He was also the brother of the late Celestine, Ernest, Emile and Alice Charette.


His funeral will be held Tuesday at 9:30 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St., Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Joseph’s Church, Mendon Rd., Woonsocket. Burial will be held in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham. Visiting hours are Monday 4-8 PM.
