Richard R. "Dick" Latour, age 64, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 with his family by his side at his home in Lowell. For 37 years, he was the beloved husband of Lorraine M. (Montmarquet) Latour.
He was born in Lowell on March 24, 1945, a son of the late Joseph and Florida (Grimard) Latour. Dick was a lifelong resident of Lowell and a communicant of St. Louis de France Parish until it's closing in 2004. He recently attended Ste. Marguerite D'Youville Parish in Dracut.
Prior to his retirement, Dick was employed as a machinist with BTU in Billerica for over 12 years. Prior to that time, he was employed with Merrimack Magnetics for 15 years, where he met his wife, Lorraine.
Dick enjoyed collecting coins and flags from different nations. In his younger years, he enjoyed dancing and playing bass in a band. He was a fan of the Red Sox and enjoyed trips to Twin Rivers Casino in Rhode Island, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his loving family, especially his grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Richard "Dicky" Latour and his wife, Robin of Tyngsboro, and Bobby Latour of Lowell; two sisters, Cecile Brown of Dracut and Pauline Rando and her husband Bob of Hudson, NH; three brothers, Peter Latour of Arizona, Paul Latour and his wife Dolores and Eddie "Babe" Latour, all of Lowell; a sister-in-law Frances Latour of Arizona; a dear sister-in-law and a brother-in-law, and Elaine and Marcel Thibeault of Lowell; two grandsons, Gavin and Cole Latour; also many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell on Sunday, May 3, from 2 to 6pm. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday morning at 9 o'clock at Ste. Marguerite D'Youville Parish - Ste. Therese Church, Dracut. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery.
