Stephanie A. Burns, 64

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Stephanie A. (Lambert) Burns, 64, of Mansfield passed away on Friday morning May 1, 2009 at home surrounded by her loving family following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of John C. Burns to whom she was wed on June 29, 1968.
Born in Boston, MA on February 14, 1945 she was the beloved daughter of the late Edward C. and Mary A. (Griffin) Lambert.
She grew up in Needham, was educated in the Girls Latin School in Boston and was a 1962 graduate of Needham High School. She furthered her studies to become a 1966 graduate of Boston College and following graduation went on to teach in both the Medfield and Acton Public School Systems, as well as teaching summer school to underprivileged children in Boston. She left her teaching career to dedicate herself to raising her four children.
Stephanie was always present at the soccer and little league fields cheering on her children and grandchildren. She loved the simple things in life; the ocean, crossword puzzles, chocolate and above all, her grandchildren. Stephanie will always be remembered for her incredible storytelling, creative cooking, and her absolute love of children.
A communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield, Mrs. Burns was also a former religious education teacher at St. Mary’s Church. A resident of Mansfield for the past 39 years she had previously made her home in Walpole, Jamaica Plain and Needham.
In addition to her beloved husband John, she is survived by her devoted children Christine Burns-Balunas and her husband Bryan of Franklin, Shawn C. Burns of Peoria, Arizona, Michelle O’Connor and her husband David of Foxboro and the late Michael J. Burns who passed away on July 2, 1995. She was the cherished grandmother of Shawn Burns and Ashley Balunas both of Franklin and Kayla O’Connor and Kelsey O’Connor both of Foxboro. She was the dear sister of Suzanne Rogerson and her husband John of East Weymouth and William C. Lambert of Boston and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Monday May 4th at 8:00 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 9:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday May 3rd from 4-7 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
