Eida M (Pozzi) Dowdell, 91 of Medway died April 30 in the Medway Country Manor. She was the wife of the late Charles J. Dowdell who died in 1985.
Born in Newton, December 5, 1917, the daughter of the late Fernando and Maria (DiGiovanni) Pozzi, Mrs. Dowdell was raised in Newton and had lived in Medway for the past 61 years.
She was a 1935 graduate of Newton North High School.
Mrs. Dowdell had been a payroll clerk at Wellesley College for 20 years until her retirement in 1985.
She had previously worked at Poor’s Publishing Company, H.A. Daniels and Berkley Store in Milford.
She was a member of the Medway Historical Society, the Medway Council on Aging and had been very active in the Medway Senior Center.
Mrs. Dowdell enjoyed playing golf and bowling.
She is survived by her sons, William Dowdell and his wife, Susan of Wilmington, Delaware and Richard Dowdell and his wife, Vicki of Medway.
She is also survived by her brother, Mario Pozzi of Raynham and sister, Lea Salvatelli of Leominster.
She was the sister of the late John and Woody Pozzi and Dora Famiglietti.
She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 5 in St. Joseph Church Medway at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9:00-9:45 a.m. in the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway.
