TEWKSBURY - Mrs. Mary Lou (Barker) Canty, age 80, died Sunday, July 6, at the PrescottHouse in North Andover. She was married for 45 years to the late Francis W. Canty.She was born and raised in Medford, a daughter of the late Wallace and Eleanor (Locke) Barker.
She had been a resident of Tewksbury since 1954, most recently, as a resident of the CarnationDrive elderly complex in Tewksbury.She was a member of the Tewksbury Congregational Church since 1954, and was past presidentof the church’s Ladies Aid Guild.
She worked as the area bus driver for Cole’s Kindergarten in Tewksbury, and was also employedas a nurses aid at a local nursing home. She owned and operated a day care center in her homefor many years.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, John W. “Jack” and his wife Michelle Canty ofRye, NH, Richard W. and his wife Joan Canty of Tewksbury, a daughter and son-in-law, Marylouand her husband James Gamlin of Stafford, VA, a sister, Elizabeth Vicari of Stoneham, a nieceClaire (Vicari) Swift of R.I., 11 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
Her funeral service was held Thursday, July 10, in the TewksburyCongregational Church. Interment was in Tewksbury Cemetery.
