John N. Cataloni, 60

Dateline: Norton, MA

John N. Cataloni, 60, of Norton formerly of Mansfield passed away on Thursday April 30, 2009 at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. He was the beloved husband of Ellen J. (Johnston) Cataloni whom he married on February 13, 1971.
Born in Attleboro, MA on May 25, 1948 he was a son of the late Ralph Cataloni, Sr. and Brenda (Mezgalis) Cataloni.
John grew up in Mansfield and was educated in Mansfield Public Schools. After marrying Ellen he moved to Norton where he had resided for the past 38 years.
Mr. Cataloni was a Skilled Laborer and had been employed for the past 23 years for the Town of Mansfield Water Department.
After his family, his first love in life was fishing. He was a familiar sight at the Norton Reservoir and at the Wrentham Sportsmen’s Club, where when younger was a quite active in club events. John possessed strong work ethics and got a kick out of watching classic movies.
In addition to his beloved wife Ellen he is survived by his devoted son Little John N. Cataloni and his wife Christine of Hermitage, Pennsylvania. He was the brother of Brenda O’Brien of Pawtucket, R.I., Ralph Cataloni, Jr. of Taunton and Mansfield and the late Mary Cataloni. Also surviving are his cherished granddaughters Gabriella Cataloni, Gianna Cataloni and Grace Cataloni all of Pennsylvania.
His funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Tuesday May 5th at 9:00 A.M. from the Norton Memorial Funeral Home 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 133 South Worcester St. Norton. Private burial will be held at a later date in the Timothy Plain Cemetery, Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday May 4th from 5-8 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, John’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Medical Oncology 20 Prospect St. 2nd Floor Milford, MA 01757 or the Friends of NORCAP 71 Walnut St. Foxboro, MA 02035.
