SHREWSBURY-Richard L. Madison, 73, of Shrewsbury, died Wednesday, April 29th. He leaves his wife of 50 years, Nancy J. (Crippen) Madison; two daughters, Karen J. McNeil and her husband Kevin of Sutton and N. Gail Donahue of Worcester; three sons, Richard J. Madison of Auburn, Michael L. Madison and his wife Pamela of Rochdale, and Joseph E. Madison and his partner Brian Corriveau of East Brookfield; five grandchildren, Kelly Donahue, Daniel McNeil and his wife Amanda, Jeffrey McNeil, Ethan Madison-Hella and Samuel Madison; a great granddaughter, Ariana McNeil. He will be sadly missed by many cousins, nephews, nieces, in-laws and dear friends.
He was born in Worcester, the son of Leonard T. and Mary M. (Dorsey) Madison and graduated from St. Stephen’s and Worcester Boys Trade Schools. Mr. Madison was a printer for Heffernan Press and Grafacon, Inc. for many years before retiring and had served in the United States Marine Corps and its Presidential Guard in Washington, D.C. He and his wife enjoyed many winters in Ft. Myers, FL, and also enjoyed summers at Stiles Lake in Spencer. Mr. Madison was a faithful Red Sox and Patriots fan and was an avid sportsman. He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous for over 30 years. He had a passion for food, landscaping, carpentry and his dogs.
The funeral is Monday, May 4th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 10:00 A.M. in St. Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Turnpike. Burial will be private. Calling hours are Sunday, May 3rd from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O.
