Obituary

BEVERLY: Lillian (Greenstein) Smuckler, 85, died Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at her home she shared with her longtime companion, Peter Clemenzi. She was the wife of the late Mayeo Smuckler, with whom she shared forty years of marriage.
She was the daughter of the late David and Gertrude (Sapovich) Greenstein. She was a lifelong resident of Beverly and a graduate of Beverly High School class of 1942. As a young woman she worked at Sylvania and Pioneer Electronics in Salem. She also worked for many years for Vic’s Caterers of Gardner Park in Peabody. Lillian was employed at the Beverly YMCA for twenty-five years and was honored for her longtime service. She volunteered at the Beverly Senior Center and enjoyed playing bingo there for many years. She also enjoyed dancing, singing and visiting with friends and family. Lillian will be deeply missed by those who knew her.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Frederick Smuckler and Sue Anne Murphy of Beverly, two granddaughters, Erin Murphy of Beverly and Heather and her husband, Michael Conley and a great-granddaughter, Chloe Conley all of Ipswich, one brother, Max Greene and his wife, Eleanor of Ipswich and several nieces and nephews. Lillian was also survived by her brother-in-law, Jack and his wife, Barbara Smuckler of Marblehead. She was also predeceased by three sisters, Evelyn (Greenstein) Wisegold, Ethel (Greenstein) Spalding and Ruth (Greenstein) Levine and two brothers, Joseph and Arnold Greenstein.
Her funeral service will be held on Friday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly at 1:30 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the VNACare Network, 5 Federal St., Danvers, MA 01923. Interment will be held in the Sons of Abraham Cemetery, Cole St., Beverly.
