Obituary

WORCESTER__Sophie M. (Bonczek) Russack, 85, of Worcester, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009 in her home. Her husband of 48 years, William Russack died in 1995.

She leaves a daughter, Kathleen Luczyk and her husband, Bogdan and grandson, Zachary Luczyk, all of Charlton; her loving caregiver and friend, Maria Madziar, who lived with her, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Stanley, Chester and Walter Bonczek and three sisters, Jane Burnell, Helen Roach and Regina Poirer. She was born in Worcester, a daughter of Stanislaw and Eleonora (Plona) Bonczek.

Mrs. Russack was an assembler at G.E. Telecron, Co., for several years and later for Superior Staples. She spent most of her life as a wonderful mother, wife and homemaker and being the best grandmother ever. She loved to shop and cook and particularly enjoyed watching her grandson play hockey. Her grandson, Zachary was the love of her life. She was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church and St. Catherine of Sweden Church. She graduated from Commerce High School. Although she grew up in Jefferson, she spent most of her life in Worcester. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the care, compassion and support provided by all the wonderful caregivers at Summit Elder Care of Worcester.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, May 2, from HENRY - DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward Street, with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Friday, May 1, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Summit Eldercare, 277 East Mountain St., Worcester, MA 01606.
