Jerry “Jiggs” DeVico of Reading formerly of Everett passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2009 at Lahey Clinic Medical Center. He was 83 years of age.
Born in Everett, Jerry was the loving son of the late Louisa (Ferrara) and Giuseppe DeVico. Jerry was a warm and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be sorely missed.
Jerry graduated from Mass Maritime Academy. He also graduated from Boston University in 1953. Jerry was an avid Red Sox and Bruins fan. He was also a member of the Swan Street Rats.
During WWII, Jerry proudly defended our freedom by serving in the United States Merchant Marines.
Jerry was the beloved husband for 61 years of Dorothy (Pacillo) DeVico. He was the devoted father of Carol Ann Cerasuolo and her husband Anthony of Reading, Cheryl Ann Brown and her husband Robert of Everett. He was the cherished grandfather of Marisa Cerasuolo of N. Andover, Marc Cerasuolo and his wife Giuseppina of Reading. Jerry was the loving brother of Tina DiNatale and her husband Tony of Medford, Mary Amoroso of S. Boston, Anthony DeVico and his wife Alice of Dorchester and the late Joseph DeVico, Helen Frankina and Evelyn Marzioni. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass celebrating Jerry’s life will be held on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. in St. Patrick Church, Stoneham. Please honor Jerry with donations to Lahey Clinic Medical Center, 41 Mall Rd, Burlington, MA 01805 or the Kidney Foundation, 85 Vernon Street, Norwood, MA 02062.
