Obituary

SALEM - Roland L. Shepperson, 93, formerly of Salem, husband of the late Alice F. (Heckman) Shepperson, died Monday, April 27, 2009 at the Masonic Home in Charlton, MA, following a brief illness.

Born in Ipswich, he was the son of the late Herbert & Alice (Lane) Shepperson. He was raised and educated in Salem and attended Mass. Trade School in Boston.

Mr. Shepperson was an Army veteran of WWII.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 20 years at Boston Machine Works in Lynn. He previously worked as a tailor at the former Clark and Friends in Salem.

He was a resident of Exeter, NH from 1973 until moving to Charlton in 2005 and was a member of the Exeter Congregational Church. An longtime active Mason, he was a member of the Amity Lodge, AF & AM in Danvers, MA and the Star in The East Lodge, AF & AM in Exeter, NH

He is survive by one sister, Bernice Chapman of Portsmouth, NH and several nephews and nieces, including Nancy Bagley and her husband Bob of Millbury, MA, who were his care givers for the past 15 years. He is predeceased by his first wife, Marie Rose (Morin) Shepperson, two sisters, Violet Benoit, Florence Conrad and a brother, John Shepperson.

His funeral service will be held Friday, May 1, at 12 pm in the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. Burial is in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
