Robert Barrett Gould, age 66, of Andover and Boca Raton Florida, died at his home in Florida, following a lengthy illness, on Saturday, April 11, 2009. He was the beloved husband of Diana G. Gould, whom he married on July 10, 1971.
Robert, the son of the late George and Dorothy (Barrett) Gould, was a graduate of The University of Dayton and Suffolk Law School and a prominent attorney in Lowell for nearly 40 years. Mr. Gould was a member of American Trial Lawyers Association, the Lowell and Mass State Bar for decades. A lifelong athlete and fitness enthusiast, Mr. Gould ran in the Boston Marathon on numerous occasions, as well as the New York Marathon. He had been a member of the Lowell Runners Association and a longtime member of the YMCA. He also enjoyed biking all over New England with his beloved wife, Diana. Mr. Gould was also an avid sports fan and loved to play golf at the Indian Ridge Country Club in Andover, where he was a member. Throughout his life, Robert was always an eager learner and loved to read, especially the newspaper and history. Besides his beloved wife Diana, he will be very sorely missed by two sons; Timothy B. Gould and Christopher A. Gould, both of Andover, one brother; Michael Gould of Meredith, New Hampshire and one brother-in-law Peter N. and his wife Vivian Argeropulos of Franklin.
His funeral mass was celebrated in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 198 Haggett’s Pond Road, Andover, Saturday, May 2, 2009, at 11 AM. Many relatives and friends respectfully were in attendance. Calling hours were held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home 390 North Main Street, Andover, on Friday, May 1, 2009, from 4 to 8 PM. Burial was private.
