GLOUCESTER: James Patrick Emanuel Sears, 66 of 91 Prospect Street died Friday, April 24, 2009 in the Seacoast Nursing & Rehabilitation Center following a long courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Gloucester on February 10, 1943, he was the son of the late Manuel B. and Alice M.T. (Norton) Sears. He was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and a graduate of the Gloucester High School class of 1962.
Jim was employed as a machine operator by Gorton’s of Gloucester for over forty years. He had also been an avid bowler and a member of the Gorton’s bowling league and enjoyed attending their many banquets.
He was a history buff and was dubbed the unofficial tour guide of Stacey Boulevard. He was also an artist, who loved to draw and paint and his passion for the waterfront kept him close to the Fisherman at the Wheel.
An avid traveler, he attended the World’s Fair in both Montreal and New York City. He also enjoyed trips to Weirs Beach in Laconia, NH, Arizona, Texas, Tennessee and Disney World.
He is survived by his lifelong friend, Shirley Francis and her family of Gloucester. He was loved and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no funeral services.
