Linda (Hansen) Shea, 60, of Whitman, died April 24th in the Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital after a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of Robert “Bob” Shea. She was born in Weymouth, daughter of Walter Hansen and the late Marjorie (Shaw) Hansen. She was brought up in Abington, a graduate of Abington High School, class of 1967 and a graduate of Massasoit class of 1985.
Linda was a charter member and first Vice President of PHI THETA KAPPS, National Honors fraternity, Alpha Kappa Upsilon chapter at the school; a member of the Little Theater Company, her proudest role was of “Lady Bracknele” in the “Importance of Being Ernest”.
Linda was very active in civic affairs. She volunteered at the Whitman Cable station, produced her own show “Square One & Beyond” a cooking and information program. Later she expanded into a talk show with local and state personalities and was credited with keeping the station alive until WHCL was established, which later she sat on the board. Linda also wrote a food column for the Whitman Express.
Linda was a member of WHIPLE, a founding member and first Vice President of the Whitman Historical Society; also she was on the Whitman Town Hall Centennial Committee.
In addition to her husband Robert “Bob” she is survived by her father Walter Hansen of Newport Richie, Fl., and her aunt Shirley Cox of Virginia Beach.
Her services will be held on Tuesday April 28th at 10:00AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman. Internment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Abington.
