Obituary

Shrewsbury – Richard N. Casey, Sr., 77 of Shrewsbury, passed away at Radius Health care Center in Worcester, on Friday, April 24th after a long courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.

He leaves his devoted wife of 56 years, Theresa M. (LaMountain) Casey; one daughter Karen A. wife of Dennis Ward of Wrentham, MA; three sons Richard N. Casey Jr. and his wife Linda of Worcester, Kenneth J. Casey and his girlfriend Jeannie Duval of Worcester and Mark A. Casey and his wife Kim of Spencer. He also leaves his twin brother Raymond Casey of Oxford and his brother, Lawrence Casey predeceased him. He also leaves 14 beloved grandchildren; 5 precious great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Casey was born in Bennington, VT son of the late Edmund and Ida (Gallant) Casey. Following graduation from Oxford High School in 1950 he served in the United States Navy.

He worked for Puralotor Courier and Emery for many years before his retirement. He was a member of the North Oxford Knights of Columbus.

His greatest joy in life was his family and his summer home in Narragansett, RI where everyone was always welcome. He was an avid reader, loved to cook, enjoyed the theater and was a great story teller. Mr. Casey was a member of St. Mary’s Parish in Shrewsbury and previously was a long time parishioner of Our Lady of the Angels Parish in Worcester.

The funeral will be held on Monday, April 27th from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester, with a Mass at 10 AM in St. Mary’s Church Main St. Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery; Worcester. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 16th from 6 to 8 PM in the funeral home.
