Mrs. Celeste A. (Corbella) Cattani 91, of Franklin, died peacefully Thursday April 23, 2009 at the Medway Country Manor Nursing Home, following an extended period of failing health. She was the wife of the late John W. Cattani who died in 1994.
Born in Union City, New Jersey August 3, 1917 a daughter of the late Anthony and Josephine (Cattaneo) Corbella, she lived in New Jersey for most of her life until relocating to Franklin in 1994.
Mrs. Cattani was a retired homemaker, and was an active communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Franklin. She enjoyed knitting, reading, walking and baseball. She was a longtime New York Yankees fan, until moving to Franklin where she became a Boston Red Sox fan. Shw was also a terrific Scrabble player.
She is survived by a daughter Joan M. Scaringella and her husband Philip of Franklin, her adoring grandchildren, David Scaringella and his wife Joann of Littleton, Lisa Pinette and her husband Steve of Milford, Michael Cattani of Maine, Mathew Cattani of Florida and four loving great grandchildren, Lindsey, Matthew, Megan and Alex.
She was the devoted mother of the late John H. Cattani, who died in 1981.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours Saturday April 25, from 5-7PM in the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. (www.franklinfuneral.com). Her funeral Mass and interment will take place on Tuesday in North Arlington, New Jersey.
