Dorothy (Motta) Montecalvo, 89 of Plainville and formerly of East Walpole died April 23 in the Ellis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Norwood. She was the wife of Mario “Monte” Montecalvo.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island, May 4, 1919, the daughter of the late Ranieri and Alveria (Autieri) Motta, Mrs. Montecalvo was raised in Providence and had lived in East Walpole from 1948 until retiring to Ormand Beach, Florida. She returned to Massachusetts and had lived in Plainville for the past 14 years.
Mrs. Montecalvo loved to play tennis and had been active in the Walpole Little League.
She also had been a member of the Catholic Women’s Club.
She loved to watch her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports and in earlier years especially loved going to see her husband “Monte” race stock cars.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Lois Fitzgerald and her husband, T. Michael Fitzgerald of East Walpole and her son, Paul Montecalvo and his wife, Patty of Ipswich.
She was the mother of the late Jean Montecalvo.
Mrs. Montecalvo was the sister of the late Adele Lombardi, Joseph Motta, Agnes Nordin, Dolly Basso and Fred Motta.
She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Her funeral will be held on Monday, April 27 from the Ginley Funeral Home 892 Main St., Walpole at 8:00 followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church at 9:00 a.m.
Burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at a later date.
Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 4-6 p.m.
