Roland J. “Rocky” Silva, Sr., died suddenly on Wednesday. He was 73.
Mr. Silva was raised in Somerville, the son of the late Joseph N. and the late Irene (Garcia) Silva.
He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War, achieving the rank of Sargent.
Rocky was a self-employed draftsman and design engineer in the construction and steel industries. He was a Medford resident for the past 41 years.
Rocky was a very active member in a number of local service and fraternal organizations. He was Junior Governor with the Malden Moose Lodge 1910. He belong to the Lions Club of Malden, The Irish American Club of Malden, the American Legion Post 45, Medford and the Medford VFW post 1012. He was also a member of the AARP chapter 1132.
He is survived by his wife Marie E. (Razziboni), a daughter, Phyllis Bramante and her husband James of Stoneham; two sons, Roland Silva, Jr. of Medford and Alan Silva. He was the grandfather of Tina, Julie and Ashley
Friends may visit Sunday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford.
A funeral mass will offered in St. Francis Of Assisi Church, Fellsway West, Medford, Monday at 10 AM.
Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
