Obituary

SPENCER
John A. "Pup" Halstead, 75, of Spencer died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family Thursday April 23. His wife Carol (Cardin) Halstead died in 2003. He leaves a daughter, Barbara H. and her husband Francis X. Cadrin; his beloved grandson, Francis X. Cadrin, Jr. and his fiancée Kara all of Spencer; two nieces and a nephew. A brother, Frederick E. Halstead and a sister, Barbara J. Halstead predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Frederick W. and Freda M. (Berg) Halstead and graduated from South High School.
John was a lineman for Mass. Electric for 40 years, before retiring. He was a member, a Deacon, a former Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent of the First Congregational Church of Spencer. John was also a lifetime member of the Spencer Fish and Game Club. He was a Lieutenant in the Spencer Rescue and Emergency Squad and was active on the Spencer Recreation Committee and was formerly involved, along with his wife in the Spencer Toys for Tots Program.

The family would like to thank UMass Memorial Healthcare and its CCU Unit, The Jewish Healthcare Center and Jewish Home Hospice for the care John received.
A Funeral Service will be held Tues. April 28, at 11:30 AM in LINDQUIST LUNDIN FUNERAL HOME, 36 Butler St. Worcester. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. A Visiting Hour will be held Tues. April 28, from 10:30 to 11:30 AM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Spencer Rescue and Emergency Squad,
