Robert W. “Scooter” Doucet, 82, of Manchester, died April 22, 2009, at his home following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Manchester, September 18, 1926, and was the son of Donat and Rosanna (St. Jean) Doucet. He was a communicant of St. Marie Parish.
He attended Central High School and left at the age of seventeen to join the Navy.
A veteran of WW II, he was honorably discharged as a Seaman First Class, earning the WW II Victory Medal, as well as the American Theatre Medal.
He was a 30 year veteran of the Manchester Fire Department retiring as a Lieutenant. He loved his job as a firefighter.
Robert will be remembered as a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He loved dancing and was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. He loved to watch his grandchildren play baseball and soccer.
IN HIS LIFE: Robert was the past Vice President of local 856, of the Professional Firefighters of Manchester; a member of the NH State permanent Firefighters Association, Manchester Firefighters Relief Association. He was a lifetime member of Club Alpine; a member of the Alpine Drum and Bugle Corps. In 1953, while with the Drum and Bugle Corps, he played in the Inauguration Parade for President Eisenhower.
Family members include his wife of nearly 59 years, Gloria (Dion) Doucet, of Manchester; 3 sons, Mark, and Jay Doucet, Scott and his wife Celeste Doucet, all of Manchester; 4 grandchildren, Tiffany, Stephanie, Robert, Noah; a sister, Beatrice Giguere, of OR; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Marie Church, Notre Dame Ave. on Monday, April 27, 2009.
Encryptment took place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Goffstown Rd. Manchester.
