West Boylston – Adrien M. Roy, 91, of West Boylston died on Monday, April 20th in Kindred Hospital in Leicester after an illness.
Mr. Roy was born in Worcester son of the late Alfred and Eva (Morin) Roy and graduated from the former Holy Family High School and served in the United States Air Force during WWII where he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Adrien also graduated from the New England Institute of Sanitary Science and worked as a funeral director for over 50 years for the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home in Worcester. He was a former member of the Massachusetts and the National Funeral Director’s Association and retired in 1982 after many years of owning and operating the funeral home with his brother.
Mr. Roy was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, the Chester Tuttle American Legion Post in Auburn, the 8th Air Force Historical Society, the West Boylston VFW and the Conseil Franchese-Saint Jean Baptiste Society.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis M. (Bruso) Buchyn-Roy; a son Leonard A. Roy of Santa Fe, NM; a daughter Denise A. Bell of West Barnstable, MA; a brother L. Alfred Roy of Worcester; a step-son Brian Buchyn of Florida; two step-daughters Gail Buchyn of Worcester and Joann Dion of Florida; 2 grandchildren Courtney and Tyler Bell both of West Barnstable, MA; four step-grandchildren Joseph and Michael Flagg of Worcester and Matthew and Phillip Buchyn of Florida; a step-great-grandson Jeffrey Flagg of Worcester and many nieces and nephews. Adrien is predeceased by a sister Lorraine DiNoia.
A funeral will be held from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home on Friday April 24th with a Mass at 11:30 AM in Our Lady of Good Counsel 111 Worcester Street, West Boylston. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. A calling period will be held from 9 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home on Friday morning.
