TEWKSBURY - Mary F. (McCarthy) Sullivan, age 89, died Wednesday, July 2, at theWentworth Skilled Care Center in Lowell, after a long period of failing health. She was the wifefor more than 59 years of the late Alexander M. Sullivan, who died in 1998.
She was born in Cambridge, Jan. 23, 1914, a daughter of the late John “Blackjack” and Nora(O’Brien) McCarthy. She was raised in Cambridge, and graduated from St. John’s High Schoolin Cambridge. She lived the earlier part of her life in Somerville and Belmont before moving herfamily to Tewksbury in 1961.
As a resident of Tewksbury, she was a life member of the Tewksbury Golden Age Club, a visitorto the Senior Drop-In Center, and a communicant of St. William’s Church.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Eleanor T. and her husband William Moser ofHopkington, Mary K. and her husband Phillip Van Steensburg of Pelham, NH, two sons and threedsaughters-in-law, Dennis A. and his wife Arlene (Zepf) Sullivan of Plymouth, Joseph M. and hiswife Linda (Conley) Sullivan of Merrimack, NH, Pamela (Ferolito) Sullivan of Belmont, ninegrandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
She was also mother of the late John J. “Jack” Sullivan who died in 1986, and sister of the lateJohn McCarthy and Margaret Graham.
Her Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, July 8, in St. William’s Church. Interment was in FoxHill Cemetery, Billerica.
