Cecil N. Marchionne, of Somerville, retired owner of a respected insurance agency, died Saturday at the Chelsea Soldiers Home. He was 85.
Mr. Marchionne was born in Boston and raised in Somerville, the son of the late Giuseppe and the late Filomena (Liberotoscioli) Marchionne. Cecil served with the Army in both the European and Asian theatres during World War II Mr. After he returned to civilian life he graduated from Northeastern University with a business degree and then went on to graduated from Northeastern’s Law School. At the same time he established the Cecil Marchionne Insurance Agency which he operated until his retirement. A respected agency serving many people throughout Somerville and Medford, the business is still conducted by the Marchionne family. Cecil is also a long-time member of the Somerville Lions Club and served as the organization’s president. Most importantly, Cecil was a dedicated family man who enjoyed the company of his many relatives and friends especially at his summer home at Sagamore Beach.
The Beloved husband of Florinda (Conforti) Marchionne, Cecil leaves a daughter Cecile Kiley and her husband Kevin of Waltham and a son Joseph Marchionne of Somerville. He was a loving grandfather to Karen M. Kiley of Waltham and Kevin M. Kiley and his wife Laureen of Wilmington. He was a loving great-grandfather to Jackson L. Kiley. He was the dear brother of the late Albert Marchionne, Louise Tagliamonte, Edith Tello and also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may visit Friday from 4 - 8 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. Process will gather Saturday morning at 10 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Ann Church, Somerville, at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
