Kathleen B. “Katie” Murphy, 83, passed away at home in Medford on April 20th, 2009. She was born in Boston on January 26th, 1926 to her parents Leo T. and Elizabeth (Guinee) Griffin. Kathleen has been a resident of Medford for most of her life and is a graduate of Medford High School. From 1952 to 1956, she worked in Washington, DC at the senate office of John F. Kennedy. Kathleen worked as a clerk at the Registry of Motor Vehicles in Boston, retiring after twenty five years of service. She has been a parishioner at Immaculate Conception Church in Malden for over fifty years and was a member of the Fort Nightly Ladies Club in Medford. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Charles M. “Gus” Murphy and by her siblings John, Leo, Eleanor and Mary Griffin, Margaret McMellen, Anne Collins, Geraldine Feeley and Alice Love. Kathleen is survived by several nieces and nephews and many grandnieces and grandnephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Wednesday April 22nd at 10:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Josephs Church in Medford at 11 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. Visitation will be held at the funeral home prior to the Mass on Wednesday from 9-10:30 AM only.
