Obituary

Edward Shaljian, 81 of Franklin died April 19 in the Franklin Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of the late Lily (Manookian) Shaljian.
Born in Boston, June 7, 1927, the son of the late Charles and Anna (Karian) Shaljian, Mr. Shaljian had lived in Franklin since he was 8 years old. Mr. Shaljian was a graduate of Wentworth Institute in Boston.
He had been a teacher in the Millbury Middle School for 20 years before retiring.
He had previously worked at Thomson Press in Franklin.
Mr. Shaljian served in the Army during World War II attaining the rank of Private First Class.
Mr. Shaljian is survived by his daughters, Laurie Dawley of Dummerston, Vermont, Judy Reis of Woonsocket, RI and a step-daughter Mary Larson of Newington, Ct.
He is also survived by his sister, Helen Merjanian of New Jersey.
He is also survived by 5 grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, April 23 in Union Street Cemetery at Noon.
Calling hours will be on Thursday from 11:00-Noon in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. in Franklin.
