WORCESTER-Rose C. (Snapauskas) Shatos, 97, died peacefully, Monday, April 20th in the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Albert Stearns, who were her caretakers for the last 2 ½ years. Her husband of 47 years, Veto P. Shatos died in 1982. She leaves a son, James and was predeceased by a son, Robert, in 2008. Rose also leaves 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
Rose was born in North Andover on March 10, 1912, the daughter of Anthony and Agatha (Kibildis) Snapauskas. She grew up in Lawrence and moved to Worcester after she was married. Rose was a devout Catholic and was a founding member of St. Charles Borromeo Church. Rose was a quiet homemaker with a warm smile, who loved being outdoors growing her tomatoes and tending her vegetable garden to the age of 94. She followed the Red Sox and enjoyed playing cards and doing word puzzles and crocheting up to the last eight weeks. Rose’s daughter Sandy would like to extend her thanks and appreciation to Sue, the visiting nurse for Overlook and Jeanne, the hospice nurse and especially to her husband, Al, for all his help and support.
The funeral is Wednesday, April 22nd from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 341 June Street. Burial will be in South Cemetery, Orange. Calling hours are Tuesday, April 21st from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
