HIGHTOWER, ESTHER “PAT”
Esther “Pat” Hightower, 92, of Summerville, widow of Forrest M. Hightower, died Friday, April 17, 2009 at Summerville Medical Center.
Family and friends are invited to attend her funeral service this morning at 10 o’clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel, 303 S. Main Street, Summerville. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston.
Mrs. Hightower was born March 13, 1917 in Los Angeles, CA, daughter of the late Frederick Samarin and Marie K. Samarin. Mrs. Hightower was a member of Summerville Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
Preceded in death by her husband of thirty six years, Forrest Hightower. Pat met Forrest in California where he was stationed in the Navy. They lived in California, Virginia, Puerto Rico, Charleston and made Summerville their retirement home, where Forrest taught NROTC at Summerville High School. “Pat” as known by her family and friends was a loving mother and devoted wife. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include three daughters and one son; Lorraine Johnson (Pat) of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Jennifer McComas (Michael) of Anderson, SC, Mary Lynn Hightower of Concord, NH and Michael Hightower of Summerville, seven grandchildren; David Hightower, Mark Johnson, Alecia Albury, Olivia Weerakoon, Jason Smith, Patrick McComas and Matthew McComas and five great grandchildren.
