Betty Faye Lemons Higgins, 78, of Griffin, formerly of Tifton, died Saturday, April 18, 2009, Brightmore Nursing Home in Griffin. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 19, 2009, at the Memorial Chapel of Tifton's First Baptist Church. Dr. Wayne Roe will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Jason Cottle, Matthew Cottle, Jarrett Harpe, Chris Carrollo, Larry Cooper and Dr. Curtis Branch will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Gleaners Sunday School Class of Tifton's First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 19, 2009 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Memorial Chapel of Tifton's First Baptist Church.
Ms. Higgins was born on June 16, 1930 in Tifton and was the daughter of Lawrence Lemons and Lucille Hudson Lemons, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Eugene Higgins. She was retired from the ABAC Film Library and a member of Tifton's First Baptist Church. She had lived in Tifton her entire life until moving to Griffin 19 years ago.
Ms. Higgins is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna Higgins Harpe and her husband, Phillip, of Griffin and Terri Higgins Cottle and her husband, Mills, of Ty Ty; four grandchildren, Jason Cottle and Matthew Cottle, both of Tifton, Heather Harpe Carroll and her husband, Chris, of Griffin and Jarrett Harpe of Florida; three great grandchildren, Taylor Carroll, Reese Carroll and Peyton Carroll; and cousins, Judy Mulkey Parker, and Joe and Kelli Parker, all of Lilburn.
