Obituary

WORCESTER-Donald M. “Mike” Harvey, 75, of Worcester, died Thursday, April 16th in his home. He leaves his wife of 25 years, Denyse P. (Gobeille) Harvey; two sons, Michael Harvey and his wife Karen of Cleveland, OH and Daniel Harvey of Worcester; his daughter, Kathleen Harvey of Worcester; three sisters, Mary Manahan of Worcester, Helen Bolil of Berkley Heights, NJ and Dorothy C. Lynch of Worcester; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. His son James Harvey, his daughter, Patricia Hesselton, two brothers, William and Walter Harvey and his sister Madeline Sullivan predeceased him.
Mr. Harvey was born in Worcester, the son of Michael J. and Helen M. (Healy) Harvey. He was a 1951 graduate of Worcester Boy’s Trade School. Mr. Harvey was a dedicated firefighter for the City of Worcester for 32 years, retiring as a Lieutenant. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean War. Mr. Harvey was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church, the Greendale Men’s Club, and the American Legion Main South Post #341. He was a director on the Fire Department Credit Union for many years and was instrumental in building the new credit union. Mr. Harvey loved his job and deep sea fishing. He was an avid gardener, known for his tomatoes and an avid golfer. Mr. Harvey was a devoted husband, father, and brother.
The funeral is Tuesday, April 21st from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. John’s Church, 40 Temple Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday, April 20th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
