Obituary

Worcester- Russell J. Desautell, 83, of 55 Crowningshield Road, died Monday, June 30, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center, after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 63 years, Lillian A. (Varnagiris) Desautell; three sons, Richard J. Desautell of Shrewsbury, Robert R. Desautell of Moyock, North Carolina, and Michael E. Desautell of Seattle, Washington; two daughters, Marilyn M. DesRosiers of Jacksonville, Florida, and Diane M. Cahill of Sutton; three brothers, Edward Desautels of Worcester, Armand Desautels of Ft. Myers, Florida, and Kenneth Desautels of Worcester; 9 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A brother, Lawrence Desautels, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Edgar and Loretta (Suprenault) Desautels and lived here all his life. He graduated from Commerce High School.

Mr. Desautell was a truck driver for the Teamsters Local 170 for 40 years, retiring in 1974.

He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, serving in the 181st division. He was in Omaha Beach during D-Day.

He was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Parish and it's Mens Club, and the Lithuanian Social Club. He was a founding member of the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 76, at St. Casimir Church.

The funeral will be held Thursday, July 3, from Dirsa-Morin Funeral Home, 298 Grafton Street (www.worcesterfuneral.com), with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Casimir Church, 41 Providence Street. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, in the funeral home.
