Obituary

SKOG, Marjorie, age 91 of Oradell, a community worker and mother, died on Wednesday, April 15, 2009. The cause was complications due to Parkinson’s Disease, said her son, Alan. Born Marjorie Griffith in Carlstadt, NJ, Mrs. Skog graduated East Rutherford High School in 1934. While aboard a New Year’s Caribbean cruise on the ocean liner Europa in 1936, she was asked to dance by Carl Skog whose attentions, if not dancing abilities, ultimately led them to the altar in April 1941. Marjorie worked for many years on the local school and elections, and was a co-chair in ticket sales for the musical productions at River Dell Senior High School. She was a member of both the Book and Needle Club of Oradell, and the Woman’s Circle Group of the First Congregational Church in River Edge. She also delighted in extensive travel to destinations including Japan, Hong Kong, Bali, Greece, Egypt, Mexico, England, France, The Netherlands, Scandinavia, Spain, Portugal and Morocco. Her summers were spent at her summer home on the bay in Long Beach, NY. Mrs. Skog is survived by her sons Alan and Donald, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to visit Monday 7:30-9PM at the Volk Leber Funeral Home, 268 Kinderkamack Rd., Oradell. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday at George Washington Memorial Park at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to one’s favorite charity.
