Martha L. (Crosby) Steinbrecher, 88, of Mansfield passed away on Thursday April 16, 2009 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of John G. Steinbrecher to whom she was wed to on May 24, 1959.
Born in Boston, MA on September 29, 1920 she was a daughter of the late John W. and Martha (DeYoung) Crosby.
As a child she grew up in the East Boston section of the city and was educated in Boston Schools. She later lived in Roslindale and Hyde Park prior to moving to Mansfield 33 years ago.
A retired Social Worker, Mrs. Steinbrecher had worked for several years for the City of Boston before retiring in 1962.
Martha was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield and in her spare time enjoyed watching television, her favorite show being “Law and Order”. She also was quite interested in programs pertaining to nature events.
In addition to her beloved husband of nearly 50 years she is survived by her sister in law Geraldine Crosby of Stamford, CT and brother in laws Charles Steinbrecher of Haverhill and Joseph Steinbrecher of Saugus. She was the sister of the late John Crosby and David Crosby and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Tuesday April 21st at 10:00 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 11:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday April 20th from 5-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
